When should I put my child's name down for St. Patrick's?
The school only accepts names from the October prior to the year in which your child is due start - so if your child is due to start in September 2016, the application process begins in October 2015. The school does not accept applications before this juncture.
How do I apply?
On the first Monday and Tuesday of October, parents of prospective pupils are invited to come to the school to complete a Declaration of Interest form. To complete this form fully you will need
- A copy of your child's birth certificate
- Proof of address (a utility bill)
What happens next?
The school will process all the forms, ensuring that they have been properly and full completed. The school will then write to all parents who completed a Declaration of Interest form in mid-November to ascertain if you are still interested in pursuing an application. Parents have two weeks to indicate their response.
Having determined the exact number of applicants, the school will then proceed to offer the available places within a further three week period. As a result, places should be allocated by the end of December.
How are places allocated?
In accordance with the criteria stipulated in our enrolment policy, priority is given to applicants as follows
1. Siblings of existing or former pupils of St. Patrick's.
2. Children living within the boundaries of the parishes of Holy Redeemer and Queen of Peace.
3. Children of current school staff and children of members of the Board of Management, both past and present.
4. Children of parents who attended St. Patrick's.
5. All other applicants.
What happens if my child is not allocated a place?
Where the number of applicants exceeds the number of available places, those children who do not receive places are placed on a waiting list. Places are allocated to children in accordance with their place on the waiting list as they become available.
