The Green Schools Committee had a busy and rewarding year, working hard to make our school more eco-friendly and sustainable. We proudly supported Walk on Wednesday throughout the year, encouraging everyone to walk or cycle to school to reduce our carbon footprint.

Every week, we also collected recycling from each class, helping to make sure waste was sorted properly and kept out of landfill. One of our big projects this year was organising a second-hand jumper sale. This event helped reduce clothing waste and gave school jumpers a second life, while also saving families money! We’re proud of the positive impact we’ve made this year and have loved being part of the Green Schools committee. Together, we’re helping to build a greener future for our school and community.
Our Green Schools Committee is made up of two students from each of the classes from 1st to 6th. The new student members are elected in September of each year by their classmates. Because our classes are re-grouped annually, it is necessary to elect a new committee. This also gives an opportunity for new people to spread the ‘Green Gospel’ each year.
They carry out Green School tasks such as:
- Monitoring the bins in each classroom; recycling and waste.
- Informing their classmates about Green School initiatives each month.
- Turning off lights and closing doors whenever the class exits the classroom and turning off the Interactive Boards at the end of each day.
- They check that taps are turned off ASAP and that there are no leaks.
- Check the shared printers for extra printing or paper to be reused.
- Water, Litter and Energy Patrols take place each day. Once a month we review the results of their patrols.
- We then award the “Greenest Cleanest Class Award”
We have a new Green School Slogan which we composed.

We like to follow the rules of our Green School Code:
